How Air Casters Work

Finer brand air bearing casters are a type of load-bearing device that uses compressed air to create a cushion of air to levitate and move heavy-duty objects. It creates a frictionless, levitating surface. This allows for the easy movement of heavy objects. The specific design and functionality of air casters can vary depending on the application and requirements.

Air casters’ working principles are as below:

• Air Supply: Air casters are connected to a source of compressed air, usually through hoses. The compressed air is supplied to the air modules at a specific pressure.
• Formation of Air film: The compressed air is to be displaced and form an air film beneath the air modular. The air film acts as a cushion, creating a frictionless surface.
• Load Levitation: When the object is placed on the air modular, the weight of the object is transferred to the thin air film. The air film supports the load, allowing the object to float slightly above the ground.
• Movement and Steering: To move the object, the air pressure in the casters can be regulated. By controlling the air supply, the object can be moved in different directions. And air casters also can steer, to change the direction of movement flexibly.
• Load Distribution and Stability: Air skates are designed in four or six air modular configurations, allowing for multiple air modules to be used together. The air modulars help distribute the load evenly and provide stability during movement.
• Suspension and Shock Absorption: The thin air film in the casters provides suspension and shock absorption, reducing the impact on the object and protecting it from damage during transportation.

• Air bearing casters make up of four air skates, when working, put the air compressed power source connect the air control console, then connect the air skates to the air control console via gas-distributing pipe.
•  According the shape of the loads put the four air skates under the equipment.
• Connect the air power source, adjust the air pressure, pull up every pressure regulating valve, the direction of clockwise is boost pressure, anti-clockwise direction is decrease air pressure, rotating every pressure regulating valve, let the air bag rise up. After the air bag raise up, put down every pressure regulating valve then locked it. Then moving. If the air pressure is bigger than it needs, will let the air skates shake up and down.Attention: Be sure the air pressure of every air skate no more than 0.35Mpa.
• When moving works done, do not close the air power source advanced, please rotating the foundation bolt let it connect with the floor. Then close the air power source, when the air bag air leaked, put it back is ok
• when unload the main air tube and vice air tubes, please let the compressed air out, the pressure gas of the air control console indicate to zero. Then package air bearing caster.
